Our Stories

The main reason that Carrie and I are on staff with Campus Crusade is because we believe that college students, as a group, posses both the greatest need for the Gospel and the greatest ability to change the world through the Gospel.

Our Stories

As college students at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, both Carrie and I found ourselves at a place where we desired to both grow in our walk with Christ and to help our classmates understand the message of Christ in a way that they would be able to respond to it themselves. Both of us came to college as followers of Jesus, and by the time our Sophomore year rolled around we were starting to find ways to talk with our friends, but were lacking direction and training in how to do it effectively.

That fall we heard about informational meetings that Campus Crusade for Christ was doing and we both showed up independently of one another. At the first meeting that I attended, the staff guy (who would later be our boss when we worked on the Western PA team) talked about how we could reach our friends and classmates with the Gospel – we were both sold. Carrie, as an art major, had a lot of conversations as she worked late alongside other students in the photo darkroom and was surprised to see that they really did have thoughts and questions that they were willing to talk about. While I pursued a degree in Interpersonal Communications, I joked that I was really majoring in Campus Crusade as I ended up serving as student president and spent the majority of my time doing things pursuing that.
