DC
DC
In 2007 we were invited to help re-start the team in Washington, DC – initially we were unsure that we wanted to move to a city that was known for being difficult and expensive, but the Lord spoke very clearly to the both of us. We were convinced that God had called us here precisely because it was difficult. Our three years have been the most trying and sanctifying years of either of our lives. We’ve struggled with pride, loneliness, anger, doubts, rejection and the sheer overwhelming nature of ministry in a city like DC. All through these struggles God has been faithful and has brought a handful of students who are either pursuing or honestly questioning the message of the Gospel (or both). We’re definitely stepping away from this time sure that God has called both of us to lives that challenge other people to pursue Christ and to ask questions and fully pursue answers.

The Future
This August we will, once again, pack our possessions into a truck and point it toward the south. As a result of our openness about our struggles with our leaders above us in Campus Crusade, we’ve been asked to participate in an 11-month personal development program that was previously reserved for staff re-entering the US after longer stays overseas. We are moving to Orlando and will work in the (Inter)National headquarters working to provide some of the necessary background roles that help staff in the field do their jobs more efficiently. Carrie will be serving as a project manager for the Graphic Design Lab and I will be the content manager for StaffWeb, our intranet site. After our time there we hope to return to DC to continue to serve on campus. We both feel that we could live in this area long-term and would not be surprised if we were “lifers” on staff, but we cannot predict what the Lord has set out before us.
